Hop in the good times machine and relive the 80s with EVERYBODY WANTS SOME
Writer-Director Richard Linklater (Boyhood) is back on the scene with EVERYBODY WANTS SOME which has been described as a “spiritual sequel” to his 1993 cult classic DAZED AND CONFUSED. That film was set in the late 70s and revolved around a group of high schoolers at the start of their summer vacation. What it was able to capture especially well was that sense of being young when anything could happen and usually did. From the rights of passage aspect to the colorful, quirky personalities of the kids to the music they listened to, it was memorable and special work of cinema. With EVERYBODY WANTS SOME, Linklater is focusing on the 1980s and a group of college freshmen who are experiencing the freedom of their first year away from home. That’s of course just a generalized description but what we can surely expect is that audiences will have another raucous ride with this cinematic time capsule look back at the decade of decadence. It will hit theaters on April 1st.
