POSTERS: Cool Hand Luke

“Sometimes nothin’ is a real cool hand”

We’d like to kick off our latest feature on Furious Cinema with the theatrical poster from one of our favorite films: Stuart Rosenberg‘s Cool Hand Luke.

Luke Jackson (Paul Newman) is a man who has a hard time conforming to society. After he is arrested for cutting the heads off parking meters, he’s sent to work on a Florida chain gang. Luke proves to be one of the biggest hardcases ever put on Earth, but he soon wins the respect of all his fellow convicts through his sheer rebellious nature. This colorful poster reflects the furious rebel cool Paul Newman exudes in the movie.

Ol Luke, he was a natural born world shaker.

Featuring a stellar supporting cast including George Kennedy, Strother Martin and Harry Dean Stanton. It’s a timeless story that film fans will want to revisit for years to come.
