THE OX-BOW INCIDENT highlights frontier justice

One of the great early Westerns, William Wellman’s THE OX-BOW INCIDENT (1943) will be released by Kino Lorber Classics on high-definition Blu Ray July 12th. BUY FROM AMAZON

Set in 1885, the story follows two drifters Gil Carter (Henry Fonda) and Art Croft (Harry Morgan) who are passing through a small Nevada town that has been the target of cattle thieves. They soon join up with a lynch mob who are out to find the men responsible for the crimes. When the suspected robbers are found, the posse must decide whether or not to hang them on the spot. This is a film that deals with the theme of vigilantism and capital punishment and how human beings must work through being judge, jury and executioners. Star Henry Fonda would revisit similar territory again in another classic film 12 Angry Men.
