50 FURIOUS SCI-FI FILMS

Throughout the 20th century and into the 21st filmmakers have been deeply inspired by the world of science fiction and the possibilities it presents to them for telling amazing and fantastic cinematic stories. “Sci-Fi” as it came to be known, was the stuff the original generation of “geeks” cherished. These films focused on everything from tales of alien beings invading the Earth to giant monsters to outer space exploration to post-apocalyptic and dystopian societies and most recently the world of superhuman heroes. The boundless universe of Science Fiction is simply one of the coolest, most interesting subjects for artists to explore and be inspired by. For our latest Furious list we’ve chosen 50 of some of our favorite Sci-Fi films which span a pretty nice variety of subgenres. We hope you enjoy it!

That’s a lot of sci-fi films, ladies and gentlemen! How many have you seen? We’ll return to sci-fi movies shortly with a look at more specific aspects of the genre, such as post-millenial sci-fi movies, space battle movies, mad science movies and so on. One thing is certain: few genres have blossomed so well over the last few decades. While some genres have always struggled, sci-fi films get made almost every month. Not all of them are great, but not only are they an amazing playground for special effects and computer generated imagery, they are also playground of our imaginations and ambitions.
