Marvel’s ANT-MAN looks like giANT fun

“One question: Is it too late to change the name?”

I’m super excited about ANT-MAN finally coming to the big screen this summer (July 17th to be exact). I think that’s because to me, he’s the quintessential Marvel hero. One that represents the fantastic places that comic books can take readers. Now thanks to Marvel Studios, we’ll get to see that on the big screen. I mean, cmon, a guy that can shrink down to the size of an ant and have wild, dangerous adventures in the microverse? It has FUN written all over it. Add to that an amazing cast featuring Michael Douglas, a veteran of film that brings all his great character work with him (from Gordon Gekko to Liberace). He’ll be playing the older Hank Pym, a brilliant scientist that is probably the 2nd official super hero in the MCU. Yep, we will most likely find out that he was around before Iron Man ever came to be. Next there’s Paul Rudd, an actor that has the comedic background (see Anchorman 1 and 2) which will give the movie the dose of witty humor it needs. His character Scott Lang is a master thief that will be given a second chance by Pym to become a hero to his young daughter by taking part in a heist scheme using the Ant-Man tech. Actress Evangeline Lilly (The Hobbit) is Hope Van Dyne, the estranged daughter of Pym and the late Janet Van Dyne (the super hero known as WASP) who we get a glimpse of looking like a million bucks. She will undoubtedly be an important element to the story. Rounding out the main cast is Corey Stoll (House of Cards) who is the baddie of this tale, Darren Cross. Cross is Pym’s arch rival in the science development biz. He will also be seen in action as the super powered YELLOWJACKET, the anti-Ant-Man if you will. His suit isn’t shown in this teaser but it’s extremely cool looking. All in all the ANT-icipation for this final installment of Marvel’s Phase Two line-up is growing with every bit of news we get. From what we’re seeing in the first teaser, it looks like an absolute blast and we can’t wait to buy a ticket!
