A LOOK AT ICHECKMOVIES

Icheckmovies.com is an exciting (almost) new website where movie geeks can check off all the films they’ve seen. I first joined up a year ago and ever since I’ve been going check crazy. The site’s original setup focused mainly on top lists based on the choices of critics, websites and film festivals. As you check off films in these lists you get custom award icons for such genres as: Film Noir, Comedy, Westerns etc. While this gave the site a semi-fun competitive aspect, at the same time it lacked the freedom of allowing members to add every film they’ve seen. After taking this into consideration, the crackerjack staff of ICM recently released an update featuring a new IMDB title search. Now you can simply look up a film (if its not listed yet) and paste the IMDB URL and baddabing! you’ve got the film in ICM’s database. When the film is added, you receive a private message letting you know it’s ready to be checked.

For the past several months the designers at ICM have been working on an extensive overhaul to the site’s concept. ICM 2.0 will have a wide variety of features for film fanatics to indulge in. The ICM staff has also stated that it will probably charge members to use certain special features but the overall basics will stay free. We can’t wait to see what ICM 2.0 is cooking up! One thing is for sure, it will be something online film geeks should look out for!!

Find me there as PeteGCDB and you can find Sebastian there as SebastianSWDB. ICM also included The Spaghetti Western Database‘s Top 20 list, as well as a mashup of top lists from GCDb.
