Luke Cage aka Power Man was basically Marvel Comics’ answer to the popular 70s Blaxploitation film heroes like SHAFT and SUPER FLY. He was a cool dude from Harlem that received special powers that made his skin like steel. He later teamed up with another hero called IRON FIST who was inspired by the 70s Kung Fu craze.
In MARVEL’s upcoming Netflix series Mike Colter stars as Luke Cage (first introduced to viewers in the JESSICA JONES series). The new teaser trailer features Luke bustin down steel doors and making metal tacos out of the bad guys as Ol Dirty Bastard’s stompin’ street anthem “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” plays. It’s really a perfect blend and gives us just a sample of what this series has in store for us. MARVEL Studios has become the place where comic geeks’ dreams come to life. This is evident with the consistent quality they bring to their many projects. LUKE CAGE will no doubt be another gem in the bunch.

Following LUKE CAGE will be the long awaited live action debut of IRON FIST. The series will star Finn Jones (Game of Thrones) as the super powered martial artist who battles evil on the streets of New York.
Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist (and hopefully THE PUNISHER) will finally get to join forces when they are brought together for THE DEFENDERS series. It’s sure to be a truly exciting grand finale to this first wave of Marvel/Netflix shows. We are thrilled and can’t wait to see how it all wraps up.
