Harley Davidson And The Marlboro Man

Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man

“Better to be alive and cool, than dead and uncool.” – Harley

Simon Wincer (imdb), director of such Disney flicks as Operation Dumbo and Free Willy, also made Lonesome Dove and the Aussie western Quigley Down Under, to name some of the more popular motion pictures in his portfolio. He also made one of my favorite midnight movies starring Don Johnson and Mickey Rourke. Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man is a fun, over the top, cool, tough and cinetastic little adventure that makes for perfect evening entertainment and can easily count as overlooked and underrated. Here is the trailer.

Update: Having seen it after decades (click here for my review in German), I no longer am such a huge fan of it. It squanders most its potential after the first third, then gets rather ridiculous. It still holds a special place in my heart, but it didn’t age well – teenage me just loved it for basically the first half hour I believe.
