POSTERS: The Dark Knight Rises

After seeing all the different versions of The Caped Crusader on the big screen over the years, I can safely say that Christopher Nolan’s modern adaptation of the classic D.C. comic hero is by far my favorite. The director chose to keep the character rooted in reality, leaving the campiness behind while toning down the fantastical aspects in all the right ways. The casting for the movies has also been exquisite with Christian Bale playing Bruce Wayne/Batman as a noble vigilante who has a mission to defend and protect the innocent people of his city. The supporting actors such as Gary Oldman (Jim Gordon), Michael Caine (Alfred) and Morgan Freeman (Lucius Fox) are all truly gifted artists who just elevate the material that much more.

The rogues gallery of villains we’ve seen appear played with magnificent gusto and wit by actors Liam Neeson (Ra’s Al Ghul), Cillian Murphy (The Scarecrow), Aaron Eckhart (Harvey Dent/Two Face) and last but not least Heath Ledger (The Joker) have given viewers a real thrill and made the continuing adventures of The Dark Knight even more exciting to witness.

In 2012, The Batman will face a new threat, and a character who just may be his toughest adversary yet. We’ll have to wait and see if the mysterious Bane (Tom Hardy) will make those other criminals look like snotty kids on a playground or not. Anne Hathaway will also be appearing as Catwoman, that feisty feline foe that always gives Batman a run for his money herself.

The Dark Knight Rises will be the grand finale in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy and I can’t wait to see how the story ends!

The new teaser poster definitely has a look of finality with the hulking thug Bane walking away from Batman’s torn off mask in the rain!
