Michael Cimino’s THE DEER HUNTER
Michael Cimino’s second film The Deer Hunter (1978) is his finest hour as a filmmaker. Unfortunately he would never again reach the same kind of critical acclaim he received from it. The story is an equally beautiful, haunting and tragic look at the effects war has on people’s lives. It’s very much about innocence lost as three friends (Robert DeNiro, Christopher Walken, John Savage) become forever changed by their experiences in battle.
On March 6th, Universal Home Video is releasing a new hi-definition edition of this powerful masterpiece. We highly recommend it to both war movie fans and cineastes in general!
