The King Of Comedy – 30th Anniversary Edition

“Better to be king for a night than shmuck for a lifetime” – Rupert Pupkin

On March 25th, Fox Home Entertainment will be releasing Martin Scorsese’s THE KING OF COMEDY on Blu Ray. Robert DeNiro stars as Rupert Pupkin, an aspiring comedian obsessed with becoming the next big sensation. Jerry Lewis plays late night talk show host Jerry Langford, Rupert’s biggest hero, the man he wishes to emulate and become best friends with.

Like Taxi Driver, The King of Comedy is a story about an outsider in society who wishes to prove himself and be somebody. Where Travis Bickle’s deepening psychosis leads him to kill to accomplish this, his cinematic cousin Rupert Pupkin uses his fierce determination, creativity and love of entertainment to thrust him into the spotlight. Although like Travis he does go to extreme lengths to make it all happen in the end. The King of Comedy has been one of Martin Scorsese’s most overlooked films for decades but has finally gotten its due thanks to film lovers that have rediscovered it as a cult classic on home video. It’s one of our favorites here at FC and we highly recommend it.

The new Blu Ray will come with several extras including: A Behind the Scenes featurette, Deleted Scenes, A Making of Featurette, Still Gallery and Theatrical Trailer.
