A team of anti-super heroes must save the world in DC’s SUICIDE SQUAD
“I’m not gonna kill ya…I’m just gonna hurt ya really, really bad”
Writer-Director David Ayer’s big screen adaptation of DC’s anti-super hero comic series SUICIDE SQUAD looks like quite an insane leap into another part of the DC Cinematic Universe. This brand new footage of the upcoming film premiered at San Diego Comic Con 2015 yesterday. The story focuses on a band of super deadly criminals, Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Enchantress (Cara Delevigne), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), Slipknot (Adam Beach) and El Diablo (Jay Hernandez) who are granted a reprieve by special government operative Amanda Waller (Viola Davis). The group is led by Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) a highly skilled military officer and given a mission involving saving the world from something. Jared Leto will make a special appearance as the latest incarnation of The Joker, one of the most iconic characters in comic books, previously portrayed by Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger.
Not much information has been given about the actual plot but we do know that Batman (Ben Affleck) makes a cameo. We’ll see if this movie can in fact deliver the goods and help build DC’s film universe up to where it should be. From the footage, it seems very stylized and operatic. Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn in particular is sure to be one crazy fun character to see brought to life. It’s sort of like The Dirty Dozen meets super hero cinema so we’re really looking forward to see the end result.
Suicide Squad will be released on August 5, 2016.
