STEVE McQUEEN: The King of Cool

Today is the birthday of one of cinema’s most iconic and legendary stars: Steve McQueen (1930-1980).

Throughout the 60s and 70s he made his mark in Hollywood playing fast living rebellious characters (The Cooler King, Frank Bullitt, Doc McCoy, Papa Thorton etc) but he was also able to be funny and most importantly bring a sense of realism and humanity to his many roles. This is what audiences picked up on and gave him such a magnetic style for the big screen.

Furious Steve McQueen films we love include: The Blob, The Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape, Nevada Smith, The Cincinatti Kid, Bullitt, The Getaway, Junior Bonner, Tom Horn, Papillon, The Thomas Crown Affair and The Hunter.
