Paul Schrader’s CAT PEOPLE claws its way onto BluRay

Hey Furious Freaks! Get your claws sharpened and ready to grab another hi-def digital treasure! Shout Factory will be releasing Director Paul Schrader’s 1982 remake of the Jacques Tourneur gothic noir classic on January 21, 2014. Fans of cult cinema will surely want to add this newly restored collector’s edition to their home video library!

Nastassja Kinski stars as Irena a young woman who is in the process of exploring her sexuality, but finds that her newfound urges lead to something supernatural and terrifying. On a visit to New Orleans to see her estranged brother (Malcolm McDowell) she gets engulfed in a nightmarish and steamy erotic adventure into the dark recesses of the untamed soul. Paul Schrader (Blue Collar, Hardcore) brings the original film noir tale into the decadent 80s with a visual extravagance and a much more gory aesthetic. Not to mention a terrific theme song by David Bowie! While the original 1942 version will always be the best, Schrader’s is an intriguing and stylish reimagining of that ferocious feline themed tale. Co-starring John Heard, Annette O’Toole and Ed Begley Jr. You can read our full review of the movie HERE.
