An epic amount of chills and thrills await in Quentin Tarantino’s THE HATEFUL EIGHT

The Wild West will be getting a whole lot wilder in Quentin Tarantino‘s upcoming thriller THE HATEFUL EIGHT.

The first inglorious trailer for the movie gives us a visually striking and crackling dialogue filled introduction to QT’s rowdy rogues gallery of 18th century law abiders and breakers. Kurt Russell is the fur clad, walrus mustached John Ruth aka “The Hangman” a bounty hunter whose reputation proceeds him. Samuel L. Jackson is Major Marquis Warren, a Civil War vet turned sly bounty hunter with the gift of gab. Ruth’s prisoner in tow is the wisecracking Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh) who comes sporting a shiner. The bulk of the story takes place at Minnie’s Haberdashery, a cozy mountain pass stopover for travelers outside Red Rock, Wyoming. Inside the confines awaits a group of strangers that may or may not be who they say they are. They include: Oswaldo Mobray aka The Little Man (Tim Roth), Joe Gage the Cow Puncher (Michael Madsen), Chris Mannix The Sheriff (Walton Goggins) Bob The Mexican (Demian Bichir), General Sanford Smithers (Bruce Dern), The Confederate. This is where the comedy, mind games and danger will be cranked up to levels that QT is best known for. Expect lots of laughs and shocks to occur as these ultra ornery folks spend some memorable time together.

Legendary composer Ennio Morricone will be creating an all new score for the film. While QT is known for a disdain of singular film scores in his movies, this will surely be a very special occasion. We can’t wait to hear the Tarantino-ized sounds of Il Maestro’s first Western score in 40 years. To make the production even more unique, THE HATEFUL EIGHT was filmed in ULTRA PANAVISION 70 by award winning master cinematographer Robert Richardson. It’s a format that harkens back to the widest of widescreen epics like Ben-Hur and It’s Mad Mad Mad Mad World. Select audiences will be able to see it projected on the giant 70mm silver screen this Christmas. It will then head to multiplexes for its standard theatrical run.
